Darwin, August 16 — In the July edition of the Webometrics World Ranking, 64 Iranian medical universities have been included, with 11 of them showing improved positions compared to the previous January edition.
According to Mehr News Agency, Tehran University of Medical Sciences (ranked 485) is the only Iranian institution among the top 500 universities globally.
Among Iranian medical universities, Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences (ranked 1002), Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences (961), and Yazd University of Medical Sciences (948) have shown significant progress.
Other universities that improved in rankings include:

Urmia University of Medical Sciences
Ilam University of Medical Sciences
Kashan University of Medical Sciences
Alborz University of Medical Sciences
Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences
Gonabad University of Medical Sciences
Maragheh University of Medical Sciences
However, some universities saw a decline in position compared to the January 2025 edition.
The July 2025 edition of the ranking includes approximately 32,000 higher education institutions (HEIs) worldwide. The ranking model is based on both webometric and bibliometric indicators, with data sourced from trusted platforms such as Majestic, OpenAlex, and SCImago/Scopus.
