Seven Executed in Kuwait, Including Two Bangladeshis

Darwin, September 14 — Kuwait has executed seven convicts, including two Bangladeshi nationals, for crimes related to murder and drug trafficking. The executions were carried out on Thursday morning at the country’s central prison, according to Kuwaiti authorities.

Citing Arab Times, the report says the executed individuals included three Kuwaiti citizens, two Bangladeshis, and two Iranians.

Among the executed Kuwaitis were individuals convicted of murdering Abdul Aziz Al-Jatari and Ahmed Al-Jalal. The two Iranian nationals were executed for drug trafficking offenses.

In one of the murder cases, the convict’s family reportedly attempted to raise nearly 2 million Kuwaiti Dinars in blood money (diya) to avoid execution. However, they failed to pay the amount within the stipulated time, leading to the implementation of the death sentence.

The report also stated that all legal reviews and appeals had been exhausted before the executions were carried out.

However, in one case, the execution was suspended after the victim’s family granted a pardon. The Kuwaiti authorities noted that this convict’s sentence would not be enforced until a new legal process is completed. The name and identity of the individual have not been disclosed.
