Darwin, 08 November-
U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that an international coalition force coordinated by the United States will soon enter Gaza. The statement comes following last month’s ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian armed group Hamas.
At that time, both sides agreed in principle to deploy an international stabilization force in Gaza. Speaking on Thursday (November 7), Trump said, “International forces will be sent to Gaza very soon.” He also warned that if Hamas creates any trouble, “a coalition of very powerful countries” will intervene. So far, however, no nation has taken military action to disarm Hamas.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Security Council is preparing to hold discussions on forming a two-year interim government and deploying a stabilization force in Gaza. Trump’s remarks came as these talks gained momentum.
According to UN plans, around 20,000 troops will be deployed under a defined mandate to maintain peace and stability in the region.
Hamas has not yet clarified whether it will disarm completely. The group has expressed willingness to hand over offensive weapons such as rockets but insists it will not surrender defensive arms like rifles until a free Palestinian state is established and Israeli occupation ends.
