Darwin, 19 November-
Saudi Arabia is set to massively expand its investments in the United States. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) has announced that the Kingdom’s current investment portfolio of $600 billion in the U.S. will be increased to nearly $1 trillion.
The report, published Wednesday (19 November) by Anadolu Agency, highlights that the announcement came on Tuesday while MBS stood beside U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House in Washington.
Speaking to reporters, the Crown Prince said, “I believe today or tomorrow we will be able to announce that we are raising this $600 billion investment to nearly $1 trillion.”
MBS added that both countries are signing multiple agreements across various sectors—ranging from technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to other key industries—which will create “major investment opportunities.”
President Trump, appearing somewhat surprised, responded, “So you’re saying the $600 billion will now become $1 trillion?”
The Crown Prince affirmed, “Absolutely. The agreements we are signing today will make this investment growth possible.”
Trump thanked MBS, saying, “I want to thank you because you have agreed to invest $600 billion in the United States. And since he is my friend, maybe it could even reach $1 trillion—though I’ll have to work a bit on that.”
He added, “We can safely count on the $600 billion, but the number may grow even higher.”
Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to the United States, Princess Reema bint Bandar Al Saud, described the meeting between President Trump and the Crown Prince as an “important day for Saudi–U.S. relations.”
She stated that the two countries had signed several major bilateral agreements, though she did not provide details.
“These agreements will increase investments in both countries, create jobs for Saudi and American citizens, and strengthen our shared commitment to regional and global security,” the ambassador added.
