WASHINGTON D.C. : In a development that has stunned Capitol Hill, US authorities have announced the discovery of more than one million additional documents potentially linked to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The discovery was reported by the FBI and federal prosecutors in New York to the Department of Justice (DOJ). The agency confirmed on Wednesday that legal teams are now working “around the clock” to review the material for public release.
The announcement comes as the DOJ faces intense scrutiny for missing the December 19 deadline mandated by the Epstein Files Transparency Act. This new law, signed by President Trump, requires the full disclosure of investigative material related to Epstein’s sex trafficking network.
“We will release the documents as soon as possible,” a DOJ spokesperson stated, though they cautioned that the sheer volume of material means it could take “a few more weeks” to complete legally required redactions intended to protect victims.
The upcoming batches are expected to be scrutinized for mentions of Epstein’s associates. Recent releases have already included FBI emails from 2019 referencing 10 possible “co-conspirators,” six of whom were reportedly served with subpoenas across Florida, New York, Boston, and Connecticut.
The DOJ maintains it is in full compliance with federal law and executive direction to maximize transparency, despite the delay caused by this newly discovered cache of evidence.a
