NZ : While the rest of the world waits, the South Pacific has officially bid farewell to 2025. Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city, became the first major global hub to ring in 2026 with a five-minute fireworks display launched from the iconic Sky Tower.

At the stroke of midnight—18 hours before the ball drops in New York City—3,500 fireworks were launched from multiple levels of the 240-meter-high Sky Tower. Although the main event went ahead, the atmosphere was somewhat dampened by persistent rain and the threat of thunderstorms. The inclement weather forced the cancellation of several smaller community events across New Zealand’s North Island.
