Darwin, 09 January: Severe cold weather and snowfall have disrupted air traffic in the French capital, Paris. Around 100 flights were cancelled at Charles de Gaulle Airport on Wednesday morning local time.
For the same reason, at least 40 more flights were cancelled at Orly Airport, according to the country’s transport minister.
The news was reported by the AFP news agency.
Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot told CNews television that the possibility of such flight disruptions had been forecast on Tuesday night. He expressed hope that “the situation will return to normal by this afternoon.”
Due to the extreme cold and snowfall, aviation authorities took the decision to ensure runway management and passenger safety. However, the cancellations have caused significant inconvenience to thousands of passengers.
Airport authorities have urged passengers to stay in contact with their respective airlines to get the latest updates on their flights.
