A powerful explosion occurred at a building in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas in Iran. At the time of reporting, there was no immediate information about casualties or injuries. State media in Iran reported the incident.
According to Iran’s state television, the explosion took place at an eight-story building on Moallem Boulevard. Two floors of the building collapsed, and several nearby vehicles and shops were also damaged.
Local news outlets mentioned that emergency responders, including firefighters and rescue teams, rushed to the scene. They are currently conducting search and rescue operations amid the debris.
In related news, Iranian media has noted that reports spreading on social media claiming that an attack on a commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Navy was the cause of the explosion are entirely false.
The event occurred against the backdrop of ongoing unrest in Iran and increased tensions with the United States. Around the same time, U.S. military forces have increased their presence near Iranian territory, even as the Iranian government continues to counter internal opposition movements. �
