Darwin, 20 February:
Israel is preparing to launch an हमला on Iran’s ballistic missile system. The country is reportedly waiting only for a “green signal” from the United States.
The Turkish news agency Anadolu reported this information citing Israel’s state broadcaster Kan (KAN).
The United States has also fully prepared for a strike on Iran. If everything proceeds as planned, the attack could take place by the end of this week. However, U.S. President Donald Trump has not yet made a final decision on the matter.
Sources familiar with the issue told CNN that although preparations are underway, some experts believe Trump’s real objective is not war but to pressure Iran into negotiations through threats.
Following these developments, Iran’s Atomic Energy chief Mohammad Eslami stated that no country can deprive the Islamic Republic of its right to nuclear enrichment. Speaking on Thursday, Eslami said, “The foundation of the nuclear industry is enrichment. Whatever you want to do in the nuclear process, you need nuclear fuel.”
According to sources, the Pentagon has deployed extensive air and naval forces to the Middle East in recent days. Reports indicate that 50 U.S. warplanes arrived in the region within 24 hours on Wednesday. The White House has been informed that the military is ready to launch operations at any moment.
Satellite images from the Institute for Science and International Security show that Iran is attempting to protect its key nuclear facilities by covering them with concrete and earth.
White House officials stated that Trump has been weighing arguments both for and against launching an attack. On Wednesday, he held a lengthy meeting with his national security team in the White House Situation Room. Earlier, Jared Kushner and special envoy Steve Witkoff briefed him on indirect talks with Iran. Although lengthy discussions were held in Geneva between the two sides, no specific resolution was reached.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said diplomacy remains Trump’s first choice, but the option of military action is still on the table.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has instructed preparations for a potential war with Iran. The Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Netanyahu directed various emergency services and the Home Front Command to prepare for conflict.
The newspaper also stated that a “maximum alert” has been issued across several Israeli security agencies. Israel’s state broadcaster Kan reported that a scheduled security cabinet meeting on Thursday regarding the Iran issue was suddenly postponed until Sunday, though no reason was provided.
The broadcaster further noted that any potential strike would be significantly larger in scale and could last for several weeks. It would not resemble the limited strike the United States carried out in Venezuela last month. Instead, it would be extensive and wide-ranging.
