Darwin, 21 March :

Switzerland has suspended the approval of all arms exports to the United States, citing its policy of neutrality amid the ongoing war involving Iran.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Swiss government said that it would not authorize the export of war materials to countries involved in international armed conflicts during this period.

The decision comes as the United States, alongside Israel, continues military operations against Iran, escalating tensions across the Middle East. Swiss authorities emphasized that under current circumstances, granting export approvals for military equipment to the US is not possible.

However, the government did not provide further details on how long the suspension would remain in place.

Meanwhile, global diplomatic efforts are intensifying over the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil shipments. Reports suggest that several countries—including the United Kingdom, Japan, and members of the European Union—are considering a joint mission to help remove the blockade in the strategic waterway.

Despite this, Germany and the Netherlands have stressed that any action in the Strait of Hormuz should only take place after a ceasefire or at least a temporary de-escalation of the conflict.

The situation remains uncertain, with no clear timeline for military or diplomatic initiatives, as the international community continues to monitor developments in the region closely.
