Darwin, 30 March: A major fire broke out at an oil refinery in northern Israel following missile strikes launched from Iran and Lebanon, according to local media reports.

The incident occurred near the port city of Haifa, where the “Bazan” oil refinery was engulfed in flames after the attack. Video footage aired by Israel’s Channel 12 showed thick black smoke billowing into the sky.

It remains unclear whether the refinery was directly hit by a missile or if debris from intercepted projectiles caused the fire. So far, no casualties have been reported.

In addition to the refinery, surrounding areas including Kiryat and Shfaram also suffered significant damage from the strikes.

The attack comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East following U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Iran that began on February 28. Since then, Iran has been carrying out retaliatory drone and missile attacks targeting Israel and U.S. military bases across the region.
