Darwin, 05 April :

U.S. special forces have rescued a missing navigator in a dangerous and daring rescue mission conducted deep inside Iran’s mountainous region. During the operation, two U.S. aircraft were destroyed, but all troops returned home safely.

U.S. officials said that under the cover of night in Iran’s mountainous terrain, American special forces were prepared for an extraordinary, life-and-death mission. Their objective was to rescue the missing navigator while evading enemy forces.

The U.S. forces knew the pilot’s location in real time through GPS signals. They planned the operation accordingly and deployed troops under the cover of night to carry out the rescue.

The operation to rescue the crew of an F-15E aircraft that had been shot down in Iran continued for nearly two days before they could fall into enemy hands. U.S. officials described it as a race against time.

In the two operations, two pilots were rescued separately, marking a first in U.S. military history.

According to The New York Times, the mission involved hundreds of special operations troops, dozens of fighter jets and helicopters, along with coordinated support from cyber, space, and intelligence systems. Rescue personnel entered Iranian territory to confirm the navigator’s location.

U.S. forces carried out airstrikes to keep Iranian convoys approaching the navigator’s position at bay. As they got closer, there was an exchange of fire with Iranian units.

Complications arose after the navigator was rescued. Two aircraft assigned to extract the rescue team became disabled in a remote area of Iran. U.S.

commanders ensured the aircraft would not fall into Iranian hands and therefore destroyed them. Subsequently, three alternative aircraft were deployed to complete the evacuation.

Officials told The Wall Street Journal that all U.S. forces involved in the mission safely exited Iranian airspace.

Iran had announced a reward of $66,000 for capturing the missing pilot and had also called on its citizens to assist in the effort.

The pilot of the downed warplane had been rescued separately the previous day. In the earlier operation, two helicopters were hit by gunfire but managed to land safely. Additionally, an A-10 aircraft crashed, and its pilot was safely rescued from the gulf. No U.S. troops were killed or injured.

Statement by President Donald Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump described the operation on Truth Social as “one of the most daring search and rescue missions in American history.” He confirmed that the navigator is “safe and sound.”

Trump noted that the navigator had been behind enemy lines in Iran’s mountainous region, and U.S. leadership had been continuously monitoring his position.

He further stated, “On my orders, the U.S. military deployed dozens of aircraft equipped with the most lethal weapons in the world to rescue him.” He also described the mission as a demonstration of U.S. dominance and military capability in Iranian airspace.

This rare and highly risky rescue mission highlights both the scope and limitations of U.S. military operations amid rising tensions with Iran. In particular, the successful separate rescue of two pilots in two different operations has been identified as an exceptional event in U.S. military history.
