Darwin, 13 April: Amid mounting casualties from Israeli airstrikes, the Australia Embassy in Beirut has taken a humanitarian step by donating blood to support the injured in Lebanon.

Ambassador Wilson, along with members of the embassy team, visited the Lebanese Red Cross and participated in a blood donation drive to assist those affected by the ongoing crisis.

The embassy said the demand for urgent medical assistance has surged due to the current situation in Lebanon. By taking part in the blood donation initiative, the team aimed to provide direct support and express solidarity with the Lebanese people.

In a statement, the Australian Embassy in Beirut said, “In these deeply difficult times, we stand with Lebanon and its people. We are grateful to the Lebanese Red Cross and all healthcare and emergency workers for their remarkable efforts.”

A ceasefire between Iran and the United States recently came into effect. However, strikes were reported across Lebanon shortly afterward, leaving more than 300 people dead. The escalating casualties have placed immense pressure on hospitals, creating an urgent need for blood and medical support.

Analysts say international humanitarian efforts like this are crucial in helping Lebanon cope with the worsening crisis.
