Trump orders destruction of vessels laying mines in Hormuz

Darwin, 24 April: U.S. President Donald Trump has announced increased pressure on Iran to reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz, saying that any vessel found laying mines in the waterway will be destroyed.

According to AFP from Washington, Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social that he has ordered the U.S. Navy to target and destroy any small boats or other vessels attempting to place mines in the Strait of Hormuz.

He added, “There is to be no hesitation.” He also claimed that U.S. mine-clearing units are currently working to clear the waterway.

Iran has previously stated that unless the United States lifts its blockade on its ports, the strategic waterway will remain closed to all but a limited number of approved ships.

Meanwhile, ongoing peace talks in Islamabad remain stalled, as Iran has not yet confirmed its participation. This is increasing pressure on the global economy.

Trump also said, “Iran cannot even figure out who is actually in charge of their leadership,” and claimed that the United States now has “full control” over the Strait of Hormuz.

He warned that the strait will not be reopened until Iran agrees to a peace deal.
