Darwin, 04 May : In the Tamil Nadu Assembly election, Tamil Nadu, popular South Indian actor Thalapathy Vijay has emerged as a major talking point in the political landscape.
His newly launched party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is heading towards an unexpected and remarkable performance in its very first election. According to ongoing vote counting trends, the party is currently leading in 104 out of 234 assembly seats.
Following TVK, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) is ahead in 66 seats, while the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is leading in 39 seats. If this trend continues, it could mark a major setback for the two dominant Dravidian political forces, DMK and AIADMK.
The results also indicate a significant shift in vote share patterns. According to early projections, Vijay’s party may secure nearly 35% of the total votes, almost matching the ruling DMK alliance.
Political analysts say this sudden rise of TVK has disrupted traditional electoral calculations in Tamil Nadu politics. While several film personalities have entered politics in the past, such a strong debut performance is rarely seen.
A large section of young voters and those dissatisfied with established political parties are believed to have shifted towards Vijay’s TVK.
The question now being widely discussed is whether the “Thalapathy of the silver screen” is becoming the new political force of Tamil Nadu. Just like in cinema, his political debut has had a strong opening—now all eyes are on the final “box office result” of the election.
