Darwin, 08 May : Iran launched another wave of missile and drone attacks toward the United Arab Emirates on Friday, injuring three people, according to the UAE Ministry of Defence.
The ministry said Iran fired two ballistic missiles and three drones, all of which were intercepted by the country’s air defense systems. Authorities believe the injuries were caused by falling debris from the intercepted projectiles.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Defence said that since the start of the conflict, the country has intercepted 551 ballistic missiles, 29 cruise missiles, and 2,263 drones launched by Iran.
The UAE had already been on high alert amid fears of renewed Iranian attacks, with air defense systems activated across the country.
According to , explosions were heard along the UAE coast on Friday morning. Dubai-based journalist reported that blasts occurred in areas where US military facilities are located.
“When clashes continue across these coastal areas around Hormuz, the UAE remains on high alert. These kinds of attacks have been ongoing since Monday,” she said.
Despite the incidents near coastal areas, no direct missile or drone strikes were reported on the UAE mainland.
