Iran-U.S. Exchange of Attacks, Kuwait and Bahrain Shaken

Darwin, 03 June : Tensions between Iran and the United States intensified overnight following a fresh exchange of military strikes, sending shockwaves across Kuwait and Bahrain amid fears of a broader regional escalation.

The latest confrontation reportedly began late Tuesday after attacks targeted an Iranian oil tanker and a communications tower near the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Iran launched missile and drone strikes, while U.S. forces said they intercepted most incoming threats without casualties.

The U.S. military stated that Iranian drones targeted American forces stationed in Kuwait. In a statement released online, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said its air defense systems successfully intercepted multiple drones, adding that no American personnel or military assets were damaged.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for retaliatory missile and drone operations. According to the IRGC, the attacks targeted the headquarters of the U.S. Fifth Fleet, an airbase in a regional country, and helicopters, in response to an alleged U.S. strike on a communications tower south of Qeshm Island.

The IRGC further claimed that its naval forces launched a missile strike on a vessel identified as “Panaya” after what it described as a U.S. attack on an Iranian oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz that allegedly damaged the tanker’s engine room.

In remarks carried by Iranian state-linked media, the IRGC warned that U.S. military actions disrupting security in the Strait of Hormuz would come at a “heavy price.”

CENTCOM, however, said two Iranian missiles launched toward Kuwait either missed their targets or broke apart midair. It also stated that three missiles fired toward Bahrain were jointly intercepted by U.S. and Bahraini defense forces.

According to the U.S. military, Iran launched several ballistic missiles toward neighboring regional countries, but none struck their intended targets. CENTCOM added that U.S. operations on Tuesday targeted and destroyed several Iranian ballistic missiles and drones on Qeshm Island.

“No U.S. service members were injured,” CENTCOM said in a statement, adding that American forces remain “vigilant and prepared” to counter what it described as Iranian aggression despite an ongoing ceasefire.

Amid heightened tensions, Bahrain’s Interior Ministry activated warning sirens and urged citizens and residents to seek shelter in safe locations.

Kuwait’s military issued a similar warning, saying its air defense systems were actively intercepting hostile missiles and drones. Authorities also urged the public to follow safety instructions, noting that overnight explosion sounds were largely the result of successful defensive interceptions.
