U.S Did Not Intercept Iranian Missiles Fired at Israel

Iran Fire

Darwin, 10 june: Washington has rejected Israel’s claim that the United States took part in intercepting ballistic missiles launched from Iran toward Israel. A U.S. official stated that the American military did not shoot down any Iranian missiles during the latest attack.

Speaking to CNN on Monday (June 8), the official said that the United States did not carry out any direct interception operations against Iranian missiles fired at Israel overnight.

During earlier phases of recent tensions in the Middle East, the United States had deployed significant missile defense capabilities to help counter Iranian attacks. However, it now appears that Washington did not take a direct role in the latest incident.

The U.S. official’s remarks contradict claims made by an Israeli military official. Earlier on Monday, the Israeli official said that the United States had assisted Israel’s air defense operations and had helped intercept several Iranian missiles.

The American official, however, clearly stated that no such interception operation had been conducted by U.S. forces.

The official added that the Israeli military maintained close coordination with the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) during the attack. Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir reportedly spoke with CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper at least twice during the incident.

However, the coordination is understood to have been limited to military communication and situational monitoring. Washington has not acknowledged any direct U.S. involvement in intercepting the Iranian missiles.
