Trump Frustrated Over Lack of Fuel Price Cuts, Warns Retailers

Darwin, 30 June: U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed frustration that consumers are not benefiting from the recent decline in global crude oil prices. Calling for an immediate reduction in retail fuel prices, he warned that sellers could face serious consequences if they fail to pass the savings on to consumers.

According to Al Jazeera, Trump made the remarks in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Monday. He noted that international crude oil prices have fallen to around $68 per barrel and are expected to decline further. However, he said retail fuel prices have not been adjusted accordingly, calling the situation unacceptable.

Addressing fuel retailers, Trump urged them to cut prices immediately to provide relief to ordinary Americans. He described excessive pricing as unlawful and warned that if the situation does not change quickly, retailers could face significant problems.

Global oil prices have recently experienced volatility due to heightened tensions in the Middle East. In particular, concerns over a possible closure of the Strait of Hormuz pushed crude prices higher. The strategic waterway handles the transit of nearly 20 percent of the world’s oil supplies.

However, market sentiment improved after signs of progress in talks between Washington and Tehran, along with indications that a final agreement could be within reach. As a result, international crude oil prices have resumed their downward trend.
