Two US Soldiers Killed in Iranian Attack in Jordan

Darwin, 19 July: Two US service members have been killed in a surprise missile and drone attack carried out by Iran in Jordan. Another service member remains missing.

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the deaths on Saturday, according to a report by US media outlet CNN.

In a statement posted on social media, CENTCOM said that on July 17, two US soldiers were killed while US and allied forces were countering Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks in Jordan.

The statement added that four other US service members injured in the attack were taken to a local hospital in Jordan for treatment. They were later released after receiving initial medical care. Other personnel who suffered minor injuries received first aid and returned to duty.

CENTCOM said the identities of the deceased soldiers would not be released until their families had been officially notified. Their names and details will be made public only after the next of kin have been informed, in accordance with standard procedures.

Earlier on Saturday morning, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that it had carried out a powerful missile and drone attack on a military base used by US forces in Jordan’s Al-Azraq area.

The IRGC claimed that several US military aircraft stationed at the base were completely destroyed in the precision strike. However, the United States had not immediately commented on the Iranian military’s claim.
