Darwin, August 30: The death toll from devastating floods and landslides along the Nepal–China Tibet border has risen to 750. Nepal’s disaster management authorities reported on Sunday that 734 people have died, while another 2,498 remain missing.

Meanwhile, 16 more people have died in China’s Tibet region, where 546 people are still missing. Combined, the death toll in Nepal and Tibet stands at 750, with more than 3,000 people still missing.

More Than 750 Dead, Over 3,000 Missing in Devastating Nepal–Tibet Floods

Rescue operations continued for the fifth consecutive day on Sunday following the devastating floods on Wednesday. However, concerns are growing over the possibility of further flooding. Authorities have warned residents in affected areas to remain alert as water levels in Nepal’s Bhote Koshi River continue to rise.

Heavy mud, landslides, and damaged communication infrastructure have emerged as major obstacles to rescue efforts. If conditions deteriorate further, there is a risk of additional flooding and landslides.
