Darwin, October 25: At least nine people, including women and children, have been killed in two days of airstrikes in Yemen, according to the Iran-backed Houthi rebels, who blamed Saudi Arabia for the attacks. Saudi Arabia has not commented on the allegations, CBS News reported.
According to the Health Ministry under Houthi control, five people were killed in two separate airstrikes in the capital, Sanaa, on Saturday. The victims included a woman and a child.
On the same day, the Houthi media centre reported repeated airstrikes in the coastal city of Mocha, in Taiz province. The Houthis took control of the city in early September. However, the media centre did not provide further details about the facilities or targets hit during the attacks.
Earlier, on Friday, four members of the same family were killed when an airstrike struck a house in the Hiba area near Taiz city. The victims included two women and two children.
The reported deaths bring the total number of people killed in the two days of strikes to at least nine, according to Houthi sources. The circumstances surrounding the attacks, including the intended targets and the full extent of the damage, remain unclear.
Saudi Arabia had not issued a comment on the allegations at the time of the report. The claims of responsibility and casualty figures cited in the report have not been independently verified.
