Iran War: Pentagon Considers Expelling Spain from NATO, Reviewing Falklands Sovereignty

Iran War Pentagon Considers Expelling Spain from NATO Falklands Sovere

Darwin, 25 April: The Pentagon is reportedly considering punitive actions against certain NATO allies that have declined to support the ongoing U.S.-Israel war against Iran, according to a report by Reuters.

Citing an internal Pentagon email, the report says the proposed measures could include removing Spain from the military alliance and reassessing U.S. support for United Kingdom sovereignty over the Falkland Islands.

A U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity, indicated that frustration has grown within the administration over some allied nations’ reluctance or refusal to grant access to military bases, airspace, and logistical support for operations against Iran.

The report further notes that “non-cooperative” countries may also be removed from key or prestigious NATO positions as part of the proposed response.

However, the internal communication did not include any suggestion that the United States would withdraw from NATO or close its military bases in Europe.

The official declined to comment on whether U.S. troop levels in Europe could be reduced.

Responding to the report, Pentagon Press Secretary Kingsley Wilson said that, as stated by President Donald Trump, the United States has consistently supported its NATO allies but did not receive the same level of backing during times of need.

Wilson added that the Pentagon is working to ensure credible options are available to the president, emphasizing that allies must fulfill their responsibilities rather than remain symbolic partners. She declined to provide further details on internal deliberations.
