Iran Presents 14-Point Peace Plan, Trump Signals Review

Darwin, 03 May: Iran has submitted a 14-point peace proposal to the United States aimed at permanently ending ongoing conflicts across multiple fronts, including Lebanon. Tehran insists the objective is not just a temporary ceasefire, but a long-term resolution to the crisis.

According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency, the proposal comes in response to a previous 9-point plan offered by Washington. The diplomatic process is being mediated by Pakistan. Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated that the plan has been handed over with the goal of ending what he described as an imposed war, adding that “the ball is now in the United States’ court.”

Iran rejected a U.S. suggestion for a two-month negotiation period with a ceasefire, instead insisting that all issues be resolved within 30 days.

The Iranian proposal includes several firm conditions: guarantees against future military aggression, withdrawal of U.S. forces from areas near Iran’s borders, lifting of naval blockades and sanctions, and the return of frozen Iranian assets abroad. It also calls for an end to hostilities in all conflict zones, including Lebanon.

Trump Responds with Skepticism

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he will soon review Iran’s latest peace proposal but expressed doubts about its acceptability.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said, “I will be reviewing the plan Iran has sent us very soon. However, I do not believe it will be acceptable. Over the past 47 years, they have not paid a sufficient price for the harm they have caused to humanity and the world.”

Trump made the remarks while staying in West Palm Beach. Details of Iran’s proposal have not yet been fully disclosed. However, his comments suggest that prospects for easing tensions between the two countries may have become even slimmer.
