War Spreads to the Red Sea, Houthis Declare Strait Closed for Israel

Darwin, 08 June : U.S. Senator Chris Murphy has said that Israel insulted former President Donald Trump by carrying out attacks on Iran despite calls for restraint.
The Democratic lawmaker wrote on X, “This war is an insult to Trump and, more broadly, to American power. And when Trump announces that he will call Netanyahu to tell him not to retaliate, and within hours Netanyahu carries out a retaliatory strike, the insult is compounded.”
He added, “Trump lost full control over this war long ago. With a full-scale war now tragically underway again, it’s hard to downplay his extreme incompetence.”
Murphy made the comments while sharing a post about Iran targeting U.S. bases in the Middle East following Israel’s strikes.
Criticizing Trump further, Murphy wrote in another post, “America’s biggest story is a president who has completely lost touch with reality. Someone who believes the FBI allowed all January 6 rioters into the Capitol, believes he truly won the 2020 election, and thinks the Iran war is going well. Someone who occasionally faces reality and panics.”
Amid Murphy’s posts, retaliatory strikes between Iran and Israel have been ongoing. Earlier, missiles were fired from Yemen targeting a U.S. base in Saudi Arabia.
On Sunday night, Iran began missile and drone attacks targeting Israel, breaking the ceasefire. This was Iran’s first strike on Israel since a ceasefire agreement was signed between the U.S., Iran, and Israel in early April.
Iran stated the attack was in response to Israeli aggression in Lebanon and warned that any further Israeli attacks would provoke even harsher retaliation.
