Iran Launches Surprise Missile Attack on US Forces in Jordan: CENTCOM

Darwin, July 29:

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a surprise missile attack targeting US forces stationed in Jordan early Wednesday (July 29), according to the United States Central Command (CENTCOM).

CENTCOM described the strike as a “surprise attack” and said the IRGC fired multiple ballistic missiles from Iranian territory at US military positions in Jordan. The US military claimed that all incoming missiles were successfully intercepted, with no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

The latest attack comes after nearly two weeks of escalating hostilities between Washington and Tehran. The United States had reportedly carried out military strikes inside Iran for 14 consecutive days beginning in the second week of the month, while Iran responded with retaliatory attacks. However, US operations against Iran had reportedly paused over the past three to four days before Wednesday’s missile launch.

In a statement, CENTCOM said: “The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched multiple ballistic missiles from Iran in an attempt to carry out a surprise attack against US forces stationed in the Middle East. All Iranian missiles were successfully intercepted.”

Iran has not yet issued an official statement regarding the reported attack.

In recent days, Tehran has increasingly accused Jordan of facilitating attacks against Iran. Iranian officials claim that operations targeting Iranian territory have been launched from Jordanian soil. Iran has previously struck a military base in Jordan several times, claiming that US helicopters and other military equipment stationed there were damaged.
