Darwin, 05 August : An Indian-flagged vessel came under attack off the coast of Yemen in the Red Sea and later capsized and sank. The incident took place on Tuesday (August 4), according to Indian media outlet NDTV.
The vessel, named MSV Faize Noori Wali, came under attack while it was located about 13 nautical miles from Yemen’s Hodeidah port. The port is controlled by the Houthi rebels.
There were 14 crew members on board, including 13 Indians and one Yemeni national. All of them were rescued alive.
Yemen’s internationally recognized government said that naval units of its National Resistance Forces, in a joint rescue operation, rescued the sailors.
India has strongly condemned the incident, saying that its vessel was attacked without any provocation.
Meanwhile, the Houthi rebels imposed a blockade in the Red Sea several days ago. They said they would not allow Saudi-bound cargo vessels to pass through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
