Israel warns citizens to travel Bangladesh And several other countries

Darwin, September 11 : Israel’s National Security Council (NSC) has warned of an increased risk of terrorist attacks against Israeli citizens and Jews in various countries around the world ahead of the “High Holy Days,” a major period of Jewish religious observance. Bangladesh is among several countries identified as high-risk destinations.

The Jerusalem Post reported on the assessment.

In an updated assessment published Sunday (September 6), the NSC said various terrorist organizations and lone attackers are seeking opportunities to target Israelis and Jews. However, it said the assessment should not be viewed as a new travel warning, but rather as an effort to raise awareness of existing security risks.

According to the NSC, Israel’s ongoing conflict with Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas has increased threats to Israeli citizens abroad. At the same time, anti-Israel rhetoric and incitement are increasing the motivation among terrorist groups and lone attackers to carry out attacks.

The council also warned that large-scale protests could take place in October 2026, some of which could turn violent. It expressed concern that attempts to target Israelis and Jews could also increase during the same period.

The NSC said Iran and its allied armed groups are considered the main terrorist threat to Israelis and Jews worldwide. It also claimed that Hamas is attempting to establish terrorist infrastructure in various countries, including in Europe.

The assessment further said the Houthis have called for attacks against Israel and Israelis. In particular, the NSC warned of a risk of attacks targeting Israelis traveling to various parts of Africa, including Somaliland.

Among countries surrounding Iran, Azerbaijan, Türkiye and the United Arab Emirates were identified as particularly vulnerable to Iranian terrorist activity.

Jordan, Qatar, Somaliland and Egypt, including the Sinai Peninsula, remain under Israel’s highest Level 4 travel warning. The NSC has advised Israelis to avoid traveling to or staying in these areas.

Iraq, Yemen, Iran, Syria and Lebanon also remain prohibited destinations for Israeli citizens. Travel to Saudi Arabia is subject to legal restrictions.

The Israeli security council also listed Bangladesh, Somalia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Libya and Algeria as high-risk countries, warning Israelis of a high level of risk when traveling to these destinations.

Bangladesh and Israel have no diplomatic relations. Bangladesh also does not permit its citizens to travel to Israel and has retained the phrase “Valid for all countries except Israel” on its passports.
