At least 19 people were killed in a tragic collision between a bus and a truck in Telangana, India, on Monday morning (November 3). The fatal accident occurred in the Chevella mandal area of the state.
According to a report by India Today, a truck driving on the wrong side of the road rammed head-on into a passenger bus carrying around 70 people. The impact was so severe that many passengers died instantly.
Local residents reported scenes of chaos following the crash. With the help of police, they pulled the injured passengers out of the wrecked bus. Authorities fear the death toll may rise, as several of the injured are in critical condition.
Just two days earlier, another horrific road accident claimed at least 18 lives and left three others injured in the Phalodi district of Rajasthan. The incident occurred early Saturday morning near Matoda village on the Bharatmala Expressway.
Police said the tragedy happened when a passenger bus crashed into a stationary trailer on the roadside. All the victims were residents of Sursagar in Jodhpur and were returning from a religious visit to Kolayat Temple in Bikaner. Most of the passengers died at the scene due to the strong impact of the collision.
In just two days, these two devastating road accidents have claimed 40 lives across India, once again highlighting the urgent need for stricter road safety measures in the country.
