The European Union (EU) has strongly condemned Israel’s recent airstrikes in southern Lebanon, calling for adherence to the existing ceasefire with Hezbollah.
On Thursday, Israel launched new attacks in southern Lebanon, claiming the strikes targeted the Iran-backed Hezbollah movement, which it accused of rearming.
In a statement issued on Saturday, EU foreign affairs spokesperson Anwar El Anoni said, “The EU calls on Israel to cease all actions that violate UN Resolution 1701 and the ceasefire agreement signed in November 2024.”
He added, “We also urge all parties in Lebanon, particularly Hezbollah, to refrain from any actions or reactions that could further escalate the situation.”
