Darwin, ovember 11— India has issued a high alert along its international borders with Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal following a powerful explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort that killed at least 13 people and left several others injured on Monday evening.

According to a report by India Today, the Border Security Force (BSF) has intensified surveillance across the India–Pakistan border in Punjab, while security has also been tightened along the Uttar Pradesh–Nepal border and at various army checkpoints nationwide.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Delhi Police have launched a joint investigation into the incident, examining all possible angles behind the blast.

As reported by NDTV, the explosion occurred at around 6:52 PM local time near the Red Fort Metro Station, when a Hyundai i20 car suddenly blew up. The blast was so powerful that several nearby vehicles were destroyed, and human remains were found scattered across the road.

Videos and images from the scene show horrific destruction, with firefighters battling flames that engulfed the area. “We reached the site immediately and began firefighting operations. The blaze was brought under control around 7:29 PM,” said A.K. Malik, Deputy Chief Fire Officer of Delhi.

Following the explosion, large numbers of police and paramilitary personnel were deployed around the Red Fort and adjoining areas, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Indian capital. The incident has caused widespread panic among residents and tourists alike.

In a related development, security forces in Faridabad, Haryana — just 50 kilometers from Delhi — recovered 2,900 kilograms of explosives earlier the same day. The blast also comes on the eve of the second phase of elections in Bihar.

Authorities have yet to confirm the cause of the explosion, but National Security Guard (NSG) commandos have been deployed at the site as part of the central government’s emergency response.
