Darwin, 01 February:

Jeffrey Epstein, who was convicted of sexual offenses, sent a woman to a senior member of the British royal family, Prince Andrew, Duke of York. The woman was allegedly forced into a sexual encounter with Prince Andrew. The claim was reported to the BBC by the woman’s American lawyer.

According to the allegations, the incident took place in 2010 at Prince Andrew’s former residence, the Royal Lodge in Windsor Estate. The woman is not British, and at the time, she was in her twenties.

Brad Edwards, lawyer at the U.S.-based law firm Edwards Henderson, stated that after spending a night with Prince Andrew, the woman was shown around Buckingham Palace and treated to tea there.

The BBC contacted Prince Andrew, Duke of York, for comment on the allegation, but he has not responded so far.

Buckingham Palace generally keeps a record of visitors, but the BBC said it was unable to verify the visit without revealing the victim’s identity.

This is the first time a victim of Epstein has alleged that a sexual encounter occurred inside a British royal residence.

Brad Edwards represents over 200 Epstein victims worldwide. He also represented Virginia Giuffre, who alleged that in 2001, at just 17 years old, she was brought to London and forced to have sex with Prince Andrew. She claimed that in 2001 and 2002, she was forced to have sex with him on two more occasions—once in New York and once on Epstein’s private Caribbean island.

Jeffrey Epstein was convicted in 2008 in Florida for soliciting sexual favors from a 14-year-old girl and completed his sentence in July 2010.

Edwards said that before the alleged incident, his client had contact with Prince Andrew. He noted, “Although Prince Andrew had certain U.S.-based lawyers in touch with him, he now appears to have cut off contact even with his own legal team.”

According to Edwards, communication stopped after King Charles formally stripped Prince Andrew of his royal titles, style, and honors. Following Virginia Giuffre’s death and the posthumous publication of her memoir, all of Prince Andrew’s royal titles were removed in October of last year, and he was also ordered to vacate the Royal Lodge, which he had used as a residence since 2004.

Buckingham Palace stated at the time that, “Although the allegations are denied, these punitive measures were considered necessary.”

Edwards claims that by stripping the title, Prince Andrew can now claim he has no assets or ability to pay damages, leaving victims suffering long-term.

He said, “The royal family claims to support victims, but by simply removing Prince Andrew’s title, they have effectively done the opposite.”

In October of last year, Buckingham Palace issued a statement saying, “Their Majesties express their deepest sympathy to all victims and survivors of abuse and will continue to do so.”

Edwards said he is now considering filing a civil lawsuit against Prince Andrew on behalf of the woman.

Notably, Virginia Giuffre filed a civil case against Prince Andrew in the U.S. in 2021, which was settled in February 2022 for approximately £12 million. She died by suicide last year.

Prince Andrew has consistently denied all allegations brought by Virginia Giuffre. However, a BBC investigation revealed that Jeffrey Epstein trafficked multiple women to the UK using both commercial flights and his private jet.
