Darwin, 13 February:
Former Prime Minister of Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated at Adiala Jail in Pakistan, has reportedly lost about 85 % of his eyesight, according to a medical report submitted to the Supreme Court.
The court-filed medical report says that Imran has been suffering from a blood clotting problem, and although he had informed prison authorities when his eye condition began deteriorating, his concerns were not promptly addressed.
After being examined by a medical team sent to the prison, the team found that his vision has declined severely — leaving him with only about 15 % remaining eyesight.
Imran, aged 73, has rarely made complaints about his health in the past, but the rapid deterioration of his vision forced his legal team to petition the Supreme Court for medical intervention.
Since his removal from power, Imran has been held in Adiala Jail following several convictions in different legal cases.
