Indians Advised to Leave Iran Amid Fears of Possible U.S. Strike

The Indian Embassy in Tehran has advised Indian nationals residing in Iran to leave the country amid fears of a possible military strike by the United States. The advisory was issued by the Embassy in coordination with India’s Ministry of External Affairs.

According to Indian media outlet NDTV, the Embassy urged citizens to “return to India using any available means of transport,” including commercial flights and other viable travel options.

The advisory applies to all Indian nationals in Iran, including students, pilgrims, businesspersons, and tourists. Citizens have been advised to remain vigilant, avoid areas where protests or demonstrations are taking place, monitor local media for updates, and maintain regular contact with the Embassy.

Indian nationals have additionally been requested to register with the Embassy and stay in immediate contact in case of any emergency situation.

The advisory comes at a time when fresh anti-government protests have erupted in Iran. On Saturday, students in Tehran and Mashhad participated in demonstrations following memorial gatherings marking 40 days since those killed in anti-government protests in January.

According to AFP, geolocated videos showed students at Sharif University taking part in large protests and waving flags associated with the former monarchy.

Meanwhile, nuclear talks between the United States and Iran are scheduled to take place in Geneva on Thursday. Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr Al-Busaidi, has stated that Oman has previously mediated in such negotiations.

At the same time, the Trump administration is reportedly increasing the deployment of military aircraft and equipment to the Middle East, adding to tensions surrounding the ongoing nuclear discussions.
