Darwin, 26 February: India has reiterated its firm backing for Israel as the conflict in the Gaza Strip continues.
Speaking during a two-day visit to Israel, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed solidarity with the Israeli people and strongly condemned terrorism.
Addressing Israeli lawmakers in Jerusalem, he emphasized the need for a united global stance against extremist violence.
Modi conveyed condolences on behalf of the people of India for those killed in the October 7, 2023 attacks carried out by Hamas.
While sharply criticising Hamas, the Indian leader did not directly address Israel’s ongoing military operations in Gaza. He, however, voiced support for broader peace efforts in the region and highlighted the importance of diplomatic engagement and normalization initiatives.
India’s position signals continued strategic alignment with Israel despite growing international debate over the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
