Darwin, 28 March : At least 12 U.S. troops have been injured in an Iranian missile and drone attack on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.

Two of them are reported to be in critical condition. Two U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the matter. The influential American newspaper The New York Times reported this on Saturday.

The attack is being seen as one of the most significant blows to U.S. defense systems in the ongoing month-long war involving the United States and Israel against Iran. Two KC-135 aerial refueling aircraft were also heavily damaged in the হামলা.

Since the start of the conflict, Iran has carried out multiple missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. bases across the Middle East, aiming to disrupt American military operations. These হামলা have caused damage to several installations.

Due to security concerns, U.S. Central Command has been forced to disperse thousands of troops and relocate them to distant locations, including Europe. So far, 13 U.S. troops have been killed in Iranian attacks.

Most of Iran’s strikes have been intercepted by U.S. and allied air defense systems. However, low-cost weapons like Iran’s “Shahed” drones have proven difficult to counter. These drones are easy to produce and deploy, while the technology required to intercept them is far more complex and expensive.

Earlier, an Iranian drone strike destroyed a key U.S. military operations center at Shuaiba Port in Kuwait, killing six American troops. Additionally, another attack on March 1 at Prince Sultan Air Base left one U.S. soldier dead.

Since the الحرب began, around 300 U.S. troops have been injured, including about 225 who suffered traumatic brain injuries due to missile explosions, according to U.S. Central Command. Among the injured, 35 troops have returned to duty after treatment.

Meanwhile, the highest casualties in the conflict have been reported in Iran and Lebanon. According to the Human Rights Activists News Agency, the death toll in Iran has reached 3,300, including at least 1,492 civilians. In Lebanon, 1,110 people have been killed, according to the country’s health ministry.

More than 50 people have died across the Gulf region, while at least 16 people have been killed in Iranian attacks in Israel.
