Darwin, 01 April:

U.S. President Donald Trump has sparked controversy by suggesting that countries facing energy shortages due to the ongoing disruption in the Strait of Hormuz should use force to seize oil themselves.

In a post on his personal social media platform Truth Social on Tuesday, Trump made the remarks, drawing sharp reactions.

Referring to countries such as the United Kingdom and other allies, he wrote that those unable to access jet fuel or energy supplies because of restrictions in the strait should “gather their delayed courage, go into the Strait, and take it directly.”

Trump also criticized nations that have refused to join direct military action against Iran, saying, “You need to learn to fight your own battles now. The United States will no longer come to your rescue—just as you did not stand with us.”

He concluded the message by saying, “Get your own oil now!”

Reiterating his stance on Iran, Trump added, “Iran is essentially destroyed. The hard work is done.”

Growing Concerns

Analysts believe Trump’s remarks could further strain relations between the United States and its long-standing allies. Encouraging the use of force in a highly sensitive المنطقة like the Strait of Hormuz may also heighten instability in global energy markets.
