Darwin, NT – 21 July 2025: A 42-year-old man has been arrested following a violent assault involving a machete in Moulden on Friday evening.
At around 6:10 pm, police received reports that a 72-year-old man had been attacked at a unit complex on Moulden Terrace. The victim had reportedly approached his neighbor’s unit to complain about loud music, leading to a confrontation. During the altercation, the suspect allegedly assaulted the victim with a machete, causing non-life-threatening injuries to his hands and shoulder.
Emergency services transported the injured man to Palmerston Regional Hospital, while the suspect barricaded himself inside his unit. Police negotiators and the Territory Response Group (TRG) were deployed to the scene. The man later surrendered without further incident.
The accused has been charged with recklessly endangering serious harm and unlawfully causing serious harm. He has been remanded in custody and is set to appear in Darwin Local Court on 22 July 2025.
