Erldunda – Northern Territory Police are investigating a fatal crash on the Stuart Highway this morning, which has claimed the life of one man and left another injured.
At approximately 8:35am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre (JESCC) received reports of a single-vehicle rollover around 20 kilometres north of Erldunda.
Emergency crews attended the scene where the driver, an adult male, was declared deceased. The passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital for further assessment.
A crime scene has been declared, with both lanes of the Stuart Highway closed while investigations continue. Authorities expect the closure to remain in place until at least 5pm today and have urged motorists to avoid the area.
Detectives from the Major Crash Investigation Unit are appealing for anyone with information to contact police on 131 444 and quote reference P25257248.
This tragedy brings the Northern Territory’s road toll to 29 lives lost so far this year.
