May Day: A Day to Remember the Bloodstained History of Workers’ Struggles
Darwin, 01 May : Today is May 1st; International Workers’ Day. While workers around the world unite to establish their rights and improve their living…
Darwin, 06 Octobor- In a strategic push to bolster its border security, the Indian Army has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to procure six AK-630 30 mm multi-barrel air defence gun systems for deployment along the Pakistan border.
The procurement is a key component of Mission Sudarshan Chakra, India’s initiative to build a layered, integrated air defence shield combining surveillance, cyber defences, and active countermeasures.
The AK-630 systems will have an effective engagement range of up to 4 km and a cyclic rate of fire around 3,000 rounds per minute. They will be trailer-mounted and towed by high-mobility vehicles, enabling rapid deployment in critical sectors.
These systems are intended to counter threats from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), rockets, artillery, and mortars (URAM), especially to protect towns, villages, and religious sites near the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC).
The move draws lessons from Operation Sindoor, conducted earlier this year, during which Pakistani forces launched aerial attacks targeting civilian infrastructure and religious sites in Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab. Army leadership has emphasised that future provocations will be met without restraint, underlining the urgency of strengthening point defences along sensitive sectors.
If approved, the new installations will be integrated with India’s wider air defence architecture to deliver real-time responses to low-altitude threats.
