EPL Showdown: Has the Honeymoon Ended for Spurs’ Frank? Plus, Liverpool vs. Man City Title Clash

The Premier League weekend offers two blockbuster fixtures that could define the seasons for four massive clubs, with the stakes highest for Tottenham’s new boss, Thomas Frank, and the title aspirations of Liverpool and Manchester City.

Is the honeymoon period already over for Thomas Frank after taking the reins from Ange Postecoglou? The answer hinges on Saturday night’s crucial clash with Manchester United.

Tottenham’s results present a bizarre contradiction: they boast the league-best away form (four wins, one draw from five games), but they have the league’s 17th-ranked home record.

However, perspective is key: most Spurs fans would have gladly signed up for their current position—sixth on the table and only eight points off the lead—after a turbulent period under the previous regime. While a pass mark is top 10, the club’s sights are set on the top six and, preferably, a Champions League place.

Conversely, this match is a “big test” for a resurgent Manchester United, who are unbeaten in four games. Tottenham’s poor home form will give them significant encouragement to secure a vital result.

The undisputed ‘game of the round’ is the pivotal encounter between Liverpool and Manchester City.

Despite starting the season with a shaky patch, Liverpool appears to be “back to their best” following three crucial wins, including great victories against Aston Villa and, crucially, European giants Real Madrid. Beating a “marker” like Real Madrid has restored the confidence that “we can beat anyone.”

However, they face a formidable opponent in Manchester City, led by the “absolute machine” Erling Haaland, who boasts 18 goals and one assist from 14 appearances this season.

With City sitting second, only six points behind league leaders Arsenal, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Liverpool are just one point behind City, meaning a win allows them to leapfrog their rivals. Both teams are desperate to avoid a loss that could widen the gap behind Arsenal before the international break.
