Sports Desk : The controversy surrounding the dramatic Egypt–Argentina match continues to grow. Following disputes over a disallowed goal, an unawarded penalty, and allegations of match-fixing, a new video has surfaced. The footage, which has spread widely on social media, shows Lionel Messi involved in a heated exchange of words.
By then, the outcome of the match had already been decided. Egypt’s head coach, Hossam Hassan, was expressing his frustration by making the widely discussed “cross” gesture. At that moment, Messi approached the Egyptian dugout and appeared to say something, which prompted an angry reaction.
Tensions reached their peak in the closing moments of the match. A new video shared on Reddit shows Messi speaking toward the Egyptian bench before teammates Lisandro Martínez and Leandro Paredes stepped in and guided him away.
Meanwhile, Egypt goalkeeping coach Safwan El-Saghir continued arguing with Messi. The video shows him walking onto the pitch, moving toward Messi, shouting, and trying to get his attention.
As the situation escalated, other members of Egypt’s coaching staff and several substitute players restrained El-Saghir and escorted him away from the field. Referee François Letexier then showed him a straight red card for his behavior.
Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan was also shown a yellow card late in the match for his conduct. During an argument with the referee, he was seen making a “cross” gesture by crossing both arms.
Although this gesture is commonly used to report allegations of racist abuse, it remains unclear whether Hassan intended it in that context. After he made the gesture, one of Egypt’s substitutes and his brother and assistant coach, Ibrahim Hassan, stepped in and lowered his arms.
The release of this new video has added a fresh layer of tension and controversy to an already highly debated match.
