Former U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that he will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank, a move that he believes would seriously undermine peace efforts and violate the rights of Palestinians.
According to the report, Trump emphasized that any such annexation would derail the peace process between Israel and Palestine. The issue of Jewish settlements in the West Bank has long been one of the core disputes, with most of the international community considering these settlements illegal under international law.
The West Bank remains at the heart of the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. While Israel has expanded settlements there, Palestinians claim the territory as part of their future independent state.
Trump’s remarks come against the backdrop of ongoing debates over the “two-state solution,” which envisions both Israel and Palestine existing as separate, sovereign nations. International observers have repeatedly warned that unilateral annexation of the West Bank by Israel would permanently damage prospects for such a solution.
Although Trump’s administration during his presidency (2017–2021) took controversial steps—including recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital—his latest statement signals a clear stance against further Israeli expansion into the West Bank.
