Darwin, 04 October-
Washington, October 4 — U.S. President Donald Trump has urged Israel to immediately stop its bombing campaign in the Gaza Strip after Hamas announced that it had accepted a proposed ceasefire.
Trump stressed that continued military action would only worsen the humanitarian crisis and delay peace efforts in the region. He called on Israeli leaders to respect international mediation and give diplomacy a chance.
Hamas’s acceptance of the ceasefire is seen as a significant step toward ending months of violence, though Israel has not yet officially responded to the proposal. International leaders, including those from the United Nations and the European Union, have expressed cautious optimism and urged both parties to de-escalate tensions.
The conflict in Gaza has left thousands dead and many more injured, with widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure. Human rights groups have repeatedly called for an immediate halt to the hostilities, warning of a looming humanitarian catastrophe if the violence continues.
Trump’s statement adds pressure on Israel as global calls grow louder for an end to the war. Observers say whether Israel accepts the ceasefire or continues its military operations will determine the next phase of the conflict.
