Dean Lewis Responds to ‘Inappropriate Behavior’ Claims: Singer Vows Therapy After ‘Embarrassing’ Interactions

Dean Lewis

ARIA Award-winning singer Dean Lewis has released an emotional statement addressing claims of “inappropriate behaviour” and conduct that made multiple women uncomfortable during private encounters.

The response from the 38-year-old artist comes after several women publicly shared their experiences on social media over the past few weeks.

Claims of Discomfort and Pressure
Among those who came forward was 28-year-old Elaina, who recounted meeting Lewis in 2019. She claimed the interaction quickly escalated, leaving her feeling pressured and uncomfortable.

Elaina detailed being asked sexually suggestive questions via message and facing pressure after meeting up. She recalled Lewis trying to persuade her, saying, “We are two friends who are attracted to each other and want to have fun,” and, more uncomfortably, asking, “Do you want to make me happy?”

Another fan shared a recording alleging Lewis’s overly flirtatious nature, including him saying: “You wore that white dress, what the f***. Baby I love looking at you.”

Lewis took to Instagram to offer his side of the story, acknowledging the embarrassment caused by the “details of intimate private conversations.”

While strongly emphasizing that his interactions were with “consenting adults” and were “none of this is illegal,” the singer admitted some of his actions were “breathtakingly dumb,” “incredibly stupid,” and “insensitive.”

Lewis vowed to seek professional help to change his dating approach:

“I am enrolling myself in intense therapy to make better choices and dramatically shift my approach to dating and relationships. In time I hope to re-earn the trust of those I’ve hurt.”

The artist is best known for his global hits “Waves” (2016) and the ARIA chart-topper “Be Alright” (2018), and won Album of the Year at the 2019 ARIA Awards for A Place We Knew.
