সুনামগঞ্জ-২ আসনের জামায়াত প্রার্থী অ্যাডভোকেট শিশির মনির নির্বাচনী প্রচারণায় সহিংসতা ও বাধা প্রদানের সংস্কৃতির অবসান দাবি করেছেন। গতকাল শুক্রবার সকালে গণসংযোগকালে তিনি বলেন, “বৃহস্পতিবার আমার নির্বাচনী এলাকায় যা ঘটেছে এবং সারা দেশে যা চলছে, তা অনাকাঙ্ক্ষিত। ৫ আগস্টের পরবর্তী সময়েও যদি রাজনীতিতে গুণগত পরিবর্তন না আসে, তবে সাধারণ মানুষ তথা নতুন প্রজন্ম রাজনীতি বিমুখ হয়ে পড়বে।”
তিনি আরও বলেন, নির্বাচনী সহিংসতায় রাজনৈতিক নেতাদের প্রাণহানি অত্যন্ত দুঃখজনক। এই পরিস্থিতি নিরসনে নির্বাচন কমিশন ও সকল রাজনৈতিক দলকে সমন্বিত উদ্যোগ নেওয়ার আহ্বান জানান তিনি। শিশির মনির স্পষ্ট করেন যে, নির্বাচনী পরিবেশে শৃঙ্খলা ফিরিয়ে না আনলে স্থিতিশীল গণতন্ত্র প্রতিষ্ঠা সম্ভব নয় এবং এর ফলে দেশ আবারও গণঅভ্যুত্থানের দিকে ধাবিত হতে পারে।
