IPhone or Android—which Is Better? The Debate Over AnTuTu
Darwin, 19 January: AnTuTu Benchmark is one of the most widely used tools in the tech world for comparing the performance of iPhones and Android…
Darwin, 21 April : Major changes are taking place in the leadership of Apple, one of the world’s leading technology companies. After successfully leading the company for 15 years, current CEO Tim Cook is stepping down. He will be succeeded by Apple’s hardware engineering chief, John Ternus.
According to the BBC, this decision will take effect from September 1. However, Cook is not leaving the company entirely; he will continue to serve as Apple’s “Executive Chairman.”
Apple after Cook and John Ternus
After Apple co-founder Steve Jobs stepped down due to illness, Tim Cook took over in 2011. Under his leadership, Apple achieved extraordinary financial success. In 2018, Apple became the first company in the world to reach a market valuation of $1 trillion, which has now grown to around $4 trillion.
John Ternus has been with Apple for the past 25 years. He has played a major role behind many of Apple’s popular products, including every generation of the iPad, recent iPhones, AirPods, and the Apple Watch.
Tim Cook described him as a “visionary,” saying that Ternus is the right person to lead Apple in the future.
Reasons for the change and challenges
Analysts say that while Tim Cook has been highly effective in business operations and profit growth, he has faced some criticism for not delivering groundbreaking new products like the iPhone under Steve Jobs.
Cook’s era is seen as one of stability, but with fewer major innovations.
On the other hand, Ternus is a hardware specialist. His appointment suggests Apple may now focus more on breakthrough products such as foldable phones or advanced wearable devices like smart glasses.
Additionally, Apple has lagged somewhat in the artificial intelligence (AI) race, which will be a major challenge for the new CEO.
In his farewell message, Tim Cook called serving as Apple CEO the “best achievement” of his life. Ternus will now lead Apple’s next phase of innovation.
