Police are urgently searching for a hit-run driver after a couple was seriously injured when they were mowed down while crossing a road in Melbourne’s outer west last month.
The incident occurred around 9 pm on October 28 in Werribee. A 33-year-old Point Cook man and a 31-year-old Wyndham Vale woman were crossing Watton Street near the intersection of Duncans Road when they were struck by a blue sedan travelling north-east.
According to police, the car failed to stop after the collision, leaving the two victims injured on the road. A passerby rushed to the couple’s aid immediately after seeing the scene.
The man and woman were both rushed to hospital and treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
To help identify the driver and the vehicle involved, police have released CCTV vision showing a car travelling near the scene of the crash at the time.
Investigators are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam footage or information regarding the movements or identity of the blue sedan, to contact police immediately.
