Terrifying security footage has emerged of a Brisbane homeowner, clad only in his underpants, fighting off an armed intruder who violently attempted to enter his bedroom.
Steve and his wife, Jane, were just waking up around 7 am at their Russell Island home in Moreton Bay when the invasion began. A woman armed with a pair of scissors managed to break into the house.
Jane first spotted the intruder, quickly slamming the bedroom door shut before Steve arrived to hold it tightly. While Jane frantically dialed Triple Zero, the attacker repeatedly stabbed the door, demanding entry.
When the attacker briefly moved away from the door, Steve saw his window of opportunity. Wearing only his underpants, the 59-year-old launched himself out of the bedroom to disarm her.

“It’s like she had superpower,” Steve said.
“Well I got to protect my family, haven’t I? It’s instinct to do what I’ve done,” Steve said.
CCTV captures the woman raising her weapon as Steve emerged. When her demands to put the weapon down were ignored, Steve lunged at her hand, successfully seizing the scissors. A struggle ensued, during which Steve was hit across the face.
Steve finally managed to subdue the woman on the floor. For the next 25 long minutes, Steve sat on top of the attacker—still in his undies—waiting for police to arrive.
Jane, relieved, said: “I’m glad I got a big boy, or else we’re gone.” She noted her husband’s strength was crucial, describing the assailant as having “superpowers, because she was very strong.”
A Queensland Police Service spokesperson confirmed a 40-year-old Boonoroo woman was arrested. It is also alleged the woman was found with a small quantity of methylamphetamine in her possession. Charges are pending.
