Australia’s inaugural Golden Bachelor, Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden, and his final pick, Sunny Long, have finally confirmed the news fans were waiting for: they are still together and very much in love!
The couple, who found their happy ending in the scenic Cape Town finale, were forced to keep their romance entirely under wraps for seven months until the final episode aired.
Sunny, a 58-year-old CEO from NSW, immediately took to Instagram after the finale, sharing a carousel of loved-up photos.
“After 7 months of dating in secret, we can finally be public and tell the world we are happily together!” she captioned the post.
Bear, 61, and Sunny confessed that maintaining their relationship was difficult, involving “covert operations” and “secret getaways” to Airbnbs to avoid being seen.
While Bear gifted Sunny a commitment ring rather than a proposal, the couple’s focus is on the next big step: blending their families. Sunny’s two daughters recently met Bear’s sons, Charlie and Jack, with immediate bonds forming.
“The priority is integrating the two families. Christmas is coming,” Bear shared, adding they are letting the relationship “happen organically.”
Meanwhile, runner-up Janette Bendle (61) was understandably heartbroken after being blindsided by Bear’s decision, especially after opening up emotionally in the final episode.
The Pilates studio owner has not spoken to Bear since the finale, but showed incredible class by reaching out to the winner. Janette sent a text message to Sunny wishing her and Bear a happy life together. Janette is now ready to start dating again and still believes in fairytales.
